Description
Biography of George Castriota / Kastrioti († 1468), the Albanian warlord turned national hero better known by his Ottoman appellation, Scanderbeg. The author, Marinus Barletius of Shkodra, fought against the Ottomans, moved to Venice after the fall of his city, in 1479, and become priest. His highly crafted narrative proved very influential, being reprinted and reworked repetedly. It was also traslated into several European languages.
