Description
As shown by the title, the “Synopsis” is a compendious chronicle from the creation of Adam to the Ottoman conquest of Morea (1460). Drafted towards the end of the 15th century, it is highly indebted to Byzantine chroniclers such as Georgios Monachos (“George the Monk”), yet it also includes Lascaris’ own observations on contemporary events – the fall of Constantinople, for example.
