Description
List of the Moldavian princes, since 1395 – the alleged date of arrival from Transylvania of the coutry’s founder, Dragoș Ist – to Constantin III Duca († 1694). The author provides only two (short) explanatory notes, one concerning Ștefan the Great († 1504) and one the Movilă princely family. N. Iorga attributed this list to the stolnic Constantin Cantacuzino; indeed, count Luigi Ferdinando Marsili († 1730) – the destinatary of the text –, knew Cantacuzino and counted him among his correspondents . Nevertheless, N.A. Ursu seems inclined to ascribe the short catalogue to logofăt Ioan Frâncul (alias Ion Romanul; alias Giovanni Candido Romano).
