Description
Romanian translation, probably from Latin, of a letter written by János Kemény, a future prince of Transylvania, on 6 August 1657 (for the Hungarian version, see László Szalay (ed.), Kemény János erdélyi fejedelem önéletírása, Pest : Heckenast Gusztáv 1856, pp. 503-511 – full text: see link below). It depicts the retreat from Poland of the Transylvanian army led by Kemény himself on behalf of prince György II Rákóczi (1621-1660). The translation is anonymous, but N. Iorga believed it might belong to spătar Nicolae “Milescu”. The text was copied in August 1687 by monk Andronic of the Moldavian Cașin monastery.
