a) ff. 3-157 – Anonymous English translation of Katib Çelebi’s Fezleke-i tevarih / Fisleche (“The Epitome of History”). It covers the years 1639-1648 (AH 1049-1058) and it is preceded by an interesting “account of the author of Fisleche” (ff. 1-2). b) ff. 158-182r – Papers concerning the peace negotiations between the Ottomans and the Habsburgs (February 1689 – March 1691). c) ff. 183-271 – “Memoire touchant les Revenus et les dépenses de l’Empire Ottoman, les diferentes milices qui composent ses armées, la maniere de les assembler, l’ordre qu’elles observent dans leurs marches, & ls moyens dont on se sert pour leur fournir et conduire les vivres, l’artillerie et les Munitions.”

Copied by a single scribe, this manuscript belonged to Sir William Trumbull († 1716), British Ambassador to Constantinople from 1686-1691. According to John-Paul A. Ghobrial, the “Memoire” was given to Trumbull by Pierre de Girardin, the French Ambassador in Constantinople (1685-1689). Date = approx.
